Someone telling me to drop my Silverwing outside, of course they were Assasin secondary, and made the casting of Recall as obvious as possible. They then proceeded to tell me they wanted to take a screenshot of it on the ground, and would pay me 20k. I played along, she started to run 1/2 way across the map behind a large rock, i asked her how she would be able to take a screenshot of it all the way from over there, with a rock infrount of her, she promptly left.

Omfg, the story I have is unbelievable.

Some dude wants me to drop my minipet (same ol' story that leads up to this). For some reason though, he's a W/R, which means he has no way to teleport or such to get my items. So I think, alright, it'd be funny to see that he does. We both go outside of Kamadan, and tells me to drop, as I'm very far away from him. It took me a good 20 seconds before I realized his trick. I spilled it for him: He was trying to teleport back into Kamadan before I could pick up my item so it'd get deleted. Right after I said that, he cried about getting scammed or something, and losing 100k. I effing rofled.

Best scam ever was when I shouted out in trade chat:

"WTS Sir Tydus! Reduced cost due to battle damage! Pm me with offer!"

I then got several pm's asking how much I wanted. i quickly got fed up replying, so I then shouted:

"To everyone who is pm'ing me, I cannot sell Sir Tydus as he is an npc, it was a JOKE."

We had a guy join our group on a FOW run some time back and he pretended he was chatting with someone else in the game and kept saying, "sry, wrong chat". The conversation was about how you could go outside and drop things and dupe them and he would stand far away and get his friend a copy of the item. Then he tried to act all coy about it and said it was a big secret, but he would show us if we promised not to tell. Yea, right, we called him a scammer, and gave him the boot. So completely lame.

I was spamming to sell stuff in LA, and this guy PMs me, saying he'd buy them all for 20k... if I was fast enough. *shrugs* Whatever to get rid of this... First time, I'm not fast enough. Second, either. Third is the good one... however, he had put 20g instead of 20k. I canceled the trade, called him a scammer in local chat and he went offline right away x].

Oh and even more obvious - selling shards, this guy offers 3g instead of 3k RIGHT AWAY. I laughed my ass off. And he let it a long time in trade...

Some strange people in the world, of Guild Wars.
LMAO! They should film that and show it every Christmas. Too funny.

Yeah, but don't you need to be just outside of the aggro circle to do that?
The whole point of the scam is that you're far away. No one is going to fall for that. Well, no one with common sense.

Stupidest attempt i've seen is someone offerring some Stones of the Elements and Enslavement Stones instead of DoA Gems.
What made it funnier was that the names actually appeared in the trade window without having to scroll over the items thanks to that neat update a while back.

I'm going to have to say that the worst scam attempt ever was when I was selling an elemental sword back in Kamadan, and this person Pm's me in all caps saying "I BUY. GO OUTSIDE WITH ME." So I invite him, figuring he wants to see the skin before he buys. So then he says. "OK. GO DIE."

At that point I asked him if he was going to buy it or not because I had other things to sell, he trades, shows me 100k, and repeats his previous statement. So, being the nice person I am, I go and die to humor him. At which point I ask him again, is he going to buy it or not? So he responds with the bright statement "I BUY. I MAKE MOVIE." So, watching him, I see him ressurect me with Unyielding Aura. This is where I say, "I'm not dropping the sword so you can pick it up when you stop maintaining the enchantment, you imbisile. You waste my time."

This is where he left, and I pmed him telling him how pathetic he was.

When Factions first came out there was a shortage of steel at the rare material trader and I had a couple of stacks in storage, so I stood in Kaineng selling it. Someone PM'd me asking for 100 ingots, I messaged him back him back saying sure but give me a minute because I was in a trade with someone and had another couple of people waiting.
When I caught up with him he told me that trade wasn't working since the latest update and we would have to go outside and trade by dropping the steel and his payment on the floor.
Brain Donor.

I was in Lion's Arch and see this guy selling a rare white bag for 5 or 10 K. This is just after they came out with the Charr Bags so I ask him what the name of the bag is thinking maybe they had something new out there. He says it just says bag and that it is white. So I ask him if he dyed a storage bag white? He says yes but that people have been buying them and that they are worth it because he has to buy the dye...

He stopped trying when I showed my ceratadon..
...you got the better deal. You could have sold that for 15k MINIMUM, sold mine for 20k week after it came out. Highest priced elite tome is probably monk at 14-16k, so... you kinda scammed yourself out of some quick cash. =/
